Project Summary:

This project by Thunder Bay Hydro, Ontario, Canada is a $10 million dollar exercise to install 49,000 meters to support electricity conservation and peak shifting. By 2010, every home and small business in Ontario is expected to have a Smart Meter [1].
According to [1], functionalities aimed for by the project include 2 Way Communications, Remote Connection/Disconnection, Tamper/Diagnostic Alerts. Also, the following technologies are being used:
-Elster Energy Axis 900MHz spread spectrum frequency hopping
-TBayTel private wireless 1xrtt
-Accenture operational data store solution
