Author: | NNSA, SNL | Year: | 2008 | Abstract: | This fact sheet addresses the security concerns regarding control systems, which are not always immune to cyber threats. Many of the systems are manufactured overseas and do not comply with all the best practices and guidelines. This fact sheet emphasizes on implementation of "trust anchors," which have potential to ameliorate the situation by raising the complexity of launching attack. Trust anchors are compatible with other systems and provide unbiased monitoring and unimpeded control. These services lay the foundation for new security services, too. Trusts anchors employ "secure obfuscation technology," which enables the anchors to test a system for correct behavior. Trust anchors can prevent attack even when COTS components go rogue.
