Abstract: | On March 27, 2001, the California Public Utility Commission (CPUC) issued Decision 01-03-073 (D.01-03-073) mandating San Diego Gas and Electric (SDG&E) to implement a pilot program designed to test the viability of a new approach to residential load control and demand responsiveness through the use of Internet technology and thermostats to affect residential air conditioning use. To meet this mandate, SDG&E implemented the Smart Thermostat Program beginning in the spring of 2002.This report provides the findings from an impact evaluation of the fourth summer of the program in 2005.
