Amsterdam Smart city projects were initiated for installing new energy management systems with smart metering and to improve sustainability in Amsterdam. There are 32 projects being run in 3 areas in Amsterdam Metropolitan region. The project partners include Nuon, IBM, Cisco, Accenture, Vodafone etc. A pilot project was planned to install 700 smart meters and display devices in homes during the years of 2009-2011 [1].
