IBERDROLA launched the implantation of the Smart Grid in Castellón, Spain in April, 2010 and completed the project in November, 2010. About 175,000 customers benefit from this service, with improved power quality by reduction in incidences. IBERDROLA has renewed over 100,000 meters currently in service. Also,this project adapts the city’s transformer centers to render remote services, reading metering equipment, and manage customer registrations, cancellations or modifications to contracted power.
