Groton Utilities (GU), a municipal utility company based in Groton, CT, serves about 35,000 electric, phone, internet and water customers in Southeastern Connecticut [1]. Flexnet, a Sensus product is used in the GU Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) implementation which started in 2008 and provides for the reliable and flexible 2-way AMI fixed network, whose communications take place through Radio Frequency (RF) data paths [2]. Recently in 2010, GU has selected Northstar Utilities Solutions to serve as the meter data management element with the latter’s MeterSense MDM product [2, 3]. The MeterSense solution monitors the performance of the AMI network by tracking the incoming data. Also, the solution reports on the accuracy of the data and identifies any abnormalities in data communication [3].
