Black Hills Power, inc. in Rapid City, South Dakota, with the help of $5.6M in Recovery Act funding, has initiated a smart grid project that will install 69,000 smart meters, along with the communications infrastructure, IT software, and equipment necessary to operate a fully functional Smart Grid system in service area starting in year 2010.
