Project Summary:
Cleco Power LLC in Pineville, Louisiana will receive $20 million in funding to develop a smart-grid energy management system. The U.S. Department of Energy selected Cleco Power as one of 100 companies nationwide to receive federal stimulus funding as part of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009. The proposed smart-grid energy management system will install a smart metering network for all of the utility's customers - over 275,000 meters - that will enable customer interaction and distribution automation. No start date has been set yet, but the project is expected to start in 2010 and take three years to complete.
