The City of Quincy Utility has been rewarded $2.4 million in funding to develop a smart-grid energy management system for which the efforts began in 2010. The U.S. Department of Energy selected 100 companies nationwide to receive funding as part of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009. The smart-grid energy management system will deploy a smart grid network across the entire customer base, including two-way communication and dynamic pricing to reduce utility bills.
