Project Summary:

Oncor is a regulated electric transmission and distribution service provider that serves about 10 million customers across Texas [1]. Oncor planned to install more than 3 million smart meters by 2012 [2, 3, 4]. The company had joined hands with Landis+Gyr which provided the utility’s advanced meter system roll out with GridStream solution [4]. It had also selected Siemens Power Transmission and Distribution, Inc and Intergraph to integrate its outage, mobile workforce and distribution management systems [5, 6].

By the end of 2012, Oncor upgraded more than 3 million existing meters in its service territory with advanced meters. Investing in advanced meters not only meant to benefit customers, but also positively impacts Texas’ environment and energy future [7].
