Georgia Power, a subsidiary of the Southern Company based in Atlanta, Georgia, has begun its Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) implementation since January 2008 [1]. The company expects to install more than 500,000 meters statewide by the end of 2010 and has scheduled its implementation to be finished by 2012 [1, 2]. The smart meters use GridSense’s Lineman Remote and Gserver software for data communication between the utility and the 2.16 million customer meters which will be installed [1].
