The City of Fulton Electric Utility in Fulton, Missouri has been awarded $1.5 million in funding to develop a smart-grid energy management system which began in 2010. The award comes from the U.S. Department of Energy, by way of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009. Only 100 companies are selected nationwide. The new smart grid funding helps replace more than 5,000 current electric meters with a smart meter network that includes a dynamic pricing program to reduce consumer energy use.
