Project Summary:
South Kentucky Rural Electric Cooperative Cooperation, located in Somerset, Kentucky, will receive $9.5 million in funding to develop a smarter energy grid. The U.S. Department of Energy selected South Kentucky Rural Electric as one of 100 companies to receive federal stimulus funds as part of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009. The stimulus funds will be used to upgrade the electric metering system to a smart meter network for more than 66,000 families and businesses in rural Kentucky beginning from 2010.
