Project Summary:
Wisconsin Power and Light, located in Madison, Wisconsin, has been awarded $3.2 million in funding to develop a smarter energy grid. The U.S. Department of Energy selected Wisconsin Power and Light as one of 100 companies to receive federal stimulus funds as part of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009. The stimulus funds will be used beginning from 2010, to capitalize on current smart meter network by implementing a power factor management system to minimize overload on distribution lines, transformers and feeder segments, reduce distribution waste, and limit unnecessary power generation.
