NV Energy, Inc., located in Las Vegas, Nevada, has been rewarded $138 million in funding to develop a smarter energy grid. The U.S. Department of Energy selected NV Energy as one of 100 companies to receive federal stimulus funds as part of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009. The stimulus funds will be used to integrate smart grid technologies, including dynamic pricing, customer communications and in-home networks, grid monitoring, distribution automation, distributed renewables, and electric vehicles, including the installation of a network of 1,300,000 smart meters starting from 2010.
