Bluebonnet Electric Cooperative is one of the largest electric cooperatives in Texas. Bluebonnet Cooperative has been serving its 80,000 members since 1939. The Coop maintains 11,000 miles of power lines located across more than 3,800 square miles within 14 Central Texas counties [1]. Bluebonnet started its grid modernization efforts in 2005 [2]. Silver Spring's Smart Energy Platform allows Bluebonnet to empower its members with more information to help manage their energy use efficiently and thus save money. Silver Spring hosts Bluebonnet's Smart Grid applications via Software as a Service (SaaS) to speed implementation and lower costs which communicate on a field proven IP network. Also, Siemens Energy, Inc. has completed the installation of the first full-scale roll-out of eMeter's Energy Engage customer web portal on-site at Bluebonnet Electric Cooperative in Bastrop, Texas according to [3].
