Project Summary: | Indianapolis Power and Light Company, located in Indianapolis, Indiana has been awarded $20 million in federal funding to develop a smarter, more efficient energy grid. The U.S. Department of Energy chose Indianapolis Power and Light Company as one of 100 companies nationwide to receive federal stimulus funds as part of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009. The focus of the project which started in 2010, is to install more than 28,000 meters, including commercial, industrial and residential customers, provide energy use information to customers, improve service restoration and efficiency, and enable two-way communications and control capabilities for the grid.
