Abstract: | This document describes the vision for the Modern Grid. The vision discussed in this document modifies the traditional approach that was used in developing today’s grid. In addition to continuing the traditional approach based on large, remote, central generating stations (coal, nuclear, hydroelectric, natural gas, renewables, etc.) providing energy to consumers through extensive transmission systems, this vision recognizes the major benefits the distribution system and end user involvement can provide.
