Decision Adopting Policies And Findings Pursuant To The Smart Grid Policies Established By The Energy Information And Security Act Of 2007

Order Instituting Rulemaking to Consider Smart Grid Technologies Pursuant to Federal Legislation and on the Commission’s Own Motion to Actively Guide Policy in California’s Development of a Smart Grid System. This document describes several decisions to adopt or denial to adopt the requirements imposed by EISA. The obligations are related to Smart Grid investment by utilities, authorizing utility companies to recover from ratepayers in case of any cost related to Smart Grid and compensating for other equipment rendered obsolete by Smart Grid deployment. Other issues are related to providing access to customer information. Comments on the proposed decisions have also been included in this docket.
