Abstract:

The presentation was made at IEEE PES 2011 General Meeting Super Sessions in July, 2011. The presentation describes the distributed generation applications at Detroit Edison (DTE) Energy, energy storage applications, PV and energy storage, Community Energy Storage Project 25 kW –50 kWh, and secondary use of EV batteries. Energy storage modes of operation –Value Streams include PV output leveling, PV output shifting, frequency regulation, circuit peak shaving, reactive support, voltage support, and islanding during outages. DTE Community Energy Storage local benefits include backup power, renewable integration, and circuit benefits. And circuit benefits include load leveling at substation, power factor correction, and ancillary services.
