Each Meter has a secured optical port that can be interfaced and programmed with a computer equipped with Vendor Meter Firmware Tool. A utility meter technician can connect the Vendor Meter Firmware Tool to the Smart Meter via the optical port and upload (apply) programming and firmware upgrades.
