Meter Data Management
Description: 

Meter Data Management (MDM) is a key component of the Smart Grid infrastructure. The MDM system provides long term data storage and management for a majority of data that are received from Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) or Automated Meter Reading (AMR) systems. The MDM systems evaluate and process data before sending it for billing and analysis.
A qualified MDMA (Meter Data Management Agent) collects raw meter data using any of the following meter reading technologies [1]:
- Physical on-site meter reading process
- Modem technology such as a dedicated telephone line connected remote interface
- Radio technology
- Pager technology

Applications: 

Applications of a Meter Data Management System includes but is not limited to Billing, Customer service, Outage management and Utility operations analysis.
