LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Portsmouth/Paducah Project Office (PPPO) of the U.S. Department of Energy on March 17, 2015 announced the launch of a new website to provide timely and easily accessible public information about DOE’s Environmental Management (EM) cleanup efforts at the Portsmouth, Ohio and Paducah, Kentucky Gaseous Diffusion Plant Sites.

Cincinnati - The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) today announced the award of an Indefinite Delivery/Indefinite Quantity (ID/IQ) contract to Trinity Engineering Associates of Cincinnati, OH. Trinity Engineering Associates is a small-disadvantaged business under the Small Business Administration’s 8(a) Program. The contract will have a maximum value of $4 million over four years. Firm-fixed-price and time-and-material task orders will be issued from the basic contract.

Cincinnati – The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) today issued the final Request for Proposal (RFP) for the Idaho Cleanup Project (ICP) Core procurement. At the end of this contract the majority of cleanup will be complete in Idaho and remaining nuclear materials will be in safe storage. The ICP Core contract is a performance based contract type that includes Cost-Plus-Incentive-Fee (CPIF) Contract Line Item Numbers (CLINs) with hybrid fee structures for both CPIF and schedule milestone and performance incentive fees; and a Cost-Plus-Fixed-Fee (CPFF) CLIN. The estimated dollar value for this procurement is greater than $1 Billion, with a five year period of performance. This procurement will be full and open competition.

Researchers at Lygos, Inc., an industrial biotechnology company, achieved a critical breakthrough in the cleaner production of malonic acid, a valuable chemical used to manufacture many products, including pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, food, and specialty materials. More than a decade ago, a report prepared for the U.S. Department of Energy identified malonic acid as one of the top 30 value-added chemicals to be produced from biomass-derived sugar.
