Workforce Training for the Electric Power Sector: Transforming the Nation's Electric Grid by Training Skilled Workers
Author:
U.S. Department of Energy; Electricity Delivery and Energy Reliability
Year:
2012
Abstract:

To address the challenges regarding critical electric power workforce, the U.S. Department of Energy’s Office of Electric Delivery and Energy Reliability (OE) is funding 51 organizations to participate in the Workforce Training in the Electric Power Sector Program (WFT). Funding for the WFT is provided by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (Recovery Act). WFT participant organizations—universities, community colleagues, electric utilities and other workforce institutes—are facilitating development of a trained and skilled electric power workforce capable of implementing a smart grid, providing for the next generation of well-qualified technicians, engineers, and electric power managers.
