Rapid development and large-scale application of distributed energy resources (DER for short) will bring new opportunities and challenges to intelligent marketing. Based on technology roadmap of smart grid, the developmental outlook of DER is proposed. Some new concepts are introduced which contain information management of three-level control, principle of power-consumed, virtual marketing, and demand-side guidance with distributed generation units. Revolution brought by DER to intelligent marketing is emphatically elaborated. Finally, in connection with hotspot issues, such as the vision of smart grid, energy-use, deep thinking is made with the participation of DER, and their modeling, access rights and other issues are introduced in order to discuss the prospects and research directions of intelligent marketing under the framework of DER.
